Georgetown 1864

Washington, D.C.

Set in a stately 1860s Georgetown home, this project honors the richness of the past while embracing the lifestyle of a young, modern couple. Original details—soaring ceilings, plaster moldings, and wide-plank wood floors—were carefully preserved, while the 1980s rear addition was completely reimagined. With the formal dining room and expansive butler’s pantry nearby, the new kitchen and adjoining family room were designed as a more casual, everyday gathering space. Stone floors, soft white cabinetry, a white oak island, and zellige tile blend old-world charm with quiet sophistication. Throughout, the home balances tradition with a fresh, edited aesthetic—layered, luminous, and built to last.
